Subang Jaya, 8 September 2023 – Up-and-coming property developer Avaland Berhad (Avaland), formerly known as MCT Berhad, recently launched its Sustainability Roadmap which reinforces its commitment to integrate sustainable and eco-friendly features that will benefit its customers across all its projects.

“We at Avaland are committed to prioritizing sustainability in all our offerings to fulfil our mission of creating communities and enhancing lives for generations. This approach will help ensure the creation of lasting economic, environmental and social value for all stakeholders involved,” highlighted Aw Sei Cheh, Chief Operating Officer of Avaland.

Guided by Avaland’s parent company Ayala Land Inc. (Ayala Land)’s robust sustainability framework, Avaland’s Sustainability Roadmap is developed in-line with its product standardisation manual across the different segments that Avaland serves in. The product standardisation manual will incorporate sustainable features in all its projects and focuses on four key sustainability focus areas: Site Resilience, Resource Efficiency, People Mobility & Connectivity and Local Economic Development.

“We focused on these four key areas because of our strong conviction that initiatives on these areas will make a lasting impact on the environment and in the communities that we are a part of,” said Aw.

“We are also tapping on the expertise of our counterparts in Ayala Land who have long been a champion of sustainable practices in its developments. Launching our Sustainability Roadmap is our first steps in sustainability development and doing our bit to reduce carbon emission,” highlighted Aw.

To invest in a more sustainable and inclusive future, Avaland is thoughtfully designing urban communities using ethical labour practices that incorporate green materials and energy-efficient technologies. For instance, all units in the Aetas Damansara development come with a naturally lighted private lift lobby. The foyer also comes fitted with breezeway for natural ventilation. These energy-efficient features help to decrease the use of electricity and reduce carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, its Alira Subang Jaya project utilizes recycled rainwater for landscape irrigation which saves water consumption and maintenance cost. In addition, all of Avaland’s projects utilizes efficient air-conditioning mechanism, water-efficient sanitary wares & fittings and green cement.

Avaland’s green initiatives in its projects have also been validated by GreenRE Malaysia, a green building certification agency formed by Real Estate And Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA). “Guided by our Sustainability Roadmap, we are pleased to receive GreenRE certifications for 6 of our projects in 6 months: Aetas Damansara (Platinum), Alora Residences (Gold), Amika Residences (Gold), Alira Subang Jaya (Silver), Sanderling (Bronze) and Casa Embun (Bronze). I understand that Avaland is the first developer to achieve this in such record time! We are humbled by these recognitions thus far, especially for Aetas Damansara which is one of only few residential developments in Malaysia that have obtained Platinum GreenRE certification in recent years,” shared Aw.

Datuk Muztaza Mohamad, Head of GreenRE Management Committee and Trustee of REHDA Institute presented the GreenRE certificates to Avaland at the launch.

At the launch, Avaland also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (Alliance Bank) for the Alliance Bank Green Mortgage Financing Package as an initiative to encourage home-ownership of green certified properties.

“Reflecting the Bank’s endeavour to build an ESG-focused organisation, we continue to innovate and develop customer-centric solutions to meet our customers’ evolving needs. Our collaboration with like-minded partners such as Avaland reinforces our commitment to fostering sustainable community and environment, while supporting our customers’ home ownership journey. We look forward to expanding our reach to key target market, enabling more businesses and customers to adopt sustainable practices and create more meaningful impact for the community,” said Ms Gan Pai Li, Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer of Alliance Bank.

Through this initiative, purchasers of Avaland’s green certified properties will be able to enjoy lower interest rates by 10 basis points (bps) from the current preferential rate, subject to the customer’s lending profile.

“This is a win-win collaboration between Avaland and Alliance Bank that will reward customers for buying green-certified properties as their home of choice. We are pleased to work together with a reputable brand like Alliance Bank and we look forward to collaborating with more green champions as we look to build a more sustainable future,” said Aw.
